Start With Caphosol® and Stay on Top of the
Risk
Oral mucositis (OM) can interfere with treatment-causing dose
reductions and delays.2
Caphosol® (supersaturated calcium phosphate rinse) is
indicated for dryness of the mouth or throat (hyposalivation,
xerostomia), regardless of the cause and regardless of whether the
conditions are temporary or permanent.
Caphosol is also indicated as an adjunct to standard oral care
in treating the mucositis that may be caused by radiation or high
dose chemotherapy.
Start Caphosol when cancer treatment starts: the submucosa
is damaged before any clinical signs of erythema or ulceration are
apparent.1
As OM severity increases, rates of significant infection, total
parenteral nutrition, days in hospital, hospital charges, and
mortality rates increase.3
Caphosol Can Change the Picture
In a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial,
Caphosol was shown to:15
- Reduce the incidence, duration, and severity of OM compared
with control
- 49% reduction in days of mucositis
- 63% decrease in duration of pain
- Reduce morphine use by 72%
